Author Biography

Dominique A.M.X. Abrioux

Dominique A.M.X. Abrioux has been the President of Athabasca University, Canada's Open University since 1995. He received his PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Alberta in 1979. His extensive record of scholarship and teaching and his interests in language, literature, and educational administration have resulted in numerous articles, published papers, peer review assignments, and speaking engagements and workshops on distance education presented worldwide. In 1987 he was a Founding Visiting Professor at the Universiti Canadienne en France and from 1993 to 1994 he served as Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan. Dr. Abrioux has served on key public and inter-university boards and committees across Canada. He is currently president of the Canadian Virtual University, a consortium which combines the distance-delivered and online program offerings of several Canadian universities.
